I would recommend your Homestay courses to anyone as an excellent way to learn Italian. With total immersion in the language there is no escaping, no lapsing back into English.
You have to find a way to express what you want to say in Italian and it gradually becomes easier to do so. As I had been learning Italian for some time I chose to take a cultural course and studied Italian literature from its beginnings. I particularly enjoyed our lessons on Dante.
Of course there were many other benefits as well as linguistic ones. You are an excellent cook and mealtimes were a gastronomic pleasure. I loved meeting your family and spending a delighful day with them at Canossa. I enjoyed your company, sharing ideas and mutual pleasures, including of course the frequent "gelati". I will always remember the symphony concert we went to on my final night and the magic of the fountain playing green, white and red as we came out of the theatre. All in all I had an unforgettable week in Reggio Emilia and can't wait for my next trip to Italy.
Thank you for everything,
With love, Jill.
